Q. Is windshield repair covered by my insurance company?
A. Yes, if you have comprehensive coverage, windshield damage is covered by your plan. And most insurance companies will waive any deductible you might have for repairs.

Q. Will I be required to file a bunch of paperwork with my insurance company?
A. No, we take care of the hassle involved with insurance claims so you don't have to. We'll do all required paperwork to bill your insurance company directly. We even recommend that you let us assist you in making the claim. This can be done in only a few minutes either when you drop your vehicle off, or pick it up after the work is completed.

Q. Will my insurance rates go up if I file an auto glass claim?
A.Time and again, insurance companies have assured us and our customers that insurance rates are not effected by their glass claims. A damaged windshield does not reflect your driving ability, and will have no bearing on your level of risk to the insurance company. Auto glass repair and replacement both fall under the comprehensive part of your insurance, not under collision.

Q. I run a tight schedule. How long will it take to complete my windshield?
A. Normally, repairs can be completed within an hour's time - from 30 minutes to 1 hour. Some take longer, but are the exceptions.

Q. So, I have stone damage. What are some reasons I should repair instead of replace?
A.  1. To save a lot of money. On average, you can save about $200 and sometimes much more!
     2. To save time. Just a phone call to set up an appointment with us and we will do the repair at your convenience. Windshield repairs generally take one third of the time that replacements can take.
     3. To maintain the car's structural integrity. The windshield is factored into the vehicle's roof strength to make it safer in case of rollover and collision, as well as airbag deployment.

Q. Why should I have my windshield repaired when my insurance company will replace it?
A. Over one billion dollars are spent each year for replacement glass, of which it's estimated that up to 75% of those windshields could have been saved by a glass repair if they had been caught in time! The insurance companies must cover these costs in the form of higher premiums. Therefore, if you save them money, you (should) save too. ALSO, most insurance companies will waive deductibles on comprehensive and pay for Jay's Auto Glass repairs, if the insured will get the damage repaired before replacement becomes necessary. Most repairs are actually free!

Q. Can you come out to my home or place of work to do repairs?
A. We can do mobile repairs if you are unable to bring the car to our shop. However, we prefer to do the repairs in our shop as the controlled environment helps insure the best quality repair possible. We will work with you to get your vehicle into the shop, including rides to your place of work or home, and pickup and delivery of your vehicle. Cold temperatures can make outdoor repairs difficult. Mobile repairs in the wintertime often require a heated garage or shop.

Q. Where do I bring my vehicle to have it repaired?
A. Our shop is located in Bemidji (see map) next to BSU, at 2300 Bemidji Ave. N.

Q. I travel in states where there are safety inspections. Will your repairs pass these inspections?
A. We guarantee Jay's Auto Glass Repairs to pass DOT safety inspections in all 50 states. If our repairs fail to meet their standards (we have never been notified of any) we guarantee a refund of the repair price, unless the repair can be redone satisfactorily; at no charge. If you prefer, we can apply the repair charges towards replacement, or bill your insurance company for the difference.

Q. I once had a chip in my windshield for one and a half years before it cracked out. Is it necessary to get my windshield repaired right away?
A. The sooner we can repair your windshield after the damage occurs, the better. There's no way to know how long a chip will withstand the elements (heat, cold, water, vibrations, etc.) before it will run, ruining the windshield.

Q. How large of a chip repair or crack can you fix?
A. If a chip is larger than a quarter, we often recommend replacement. However, depending on where the chip is in your windshield, and your glass insurance situation, we sometimes do chips larger. Insurance companies often require us to replace the windshield if larger chips are located in the critical viewing area of the driver. Normally we don't guarantee cracks more than three inches long, but we have done crack repairs several inches long that have saved the windshield from having to be replaced.

Q. What sort of process do you use to repair stone damage?
A. We use the finest equipment on the market today. By injecting specially formulated chemicals into the break, we restore the optical clarity to a large degree. After the UV curing process hardens and bonds the resins, your windshield is as safe and strong as the original glass.

Q. Have you made repairs that failed?
A. Yes, of course. But the odds of our repairs failing are extremely low! To date we have done over 40,000 repairs with less than 1% failure! These percentages are almost unheard of in this business.
