Q. Is windshield replacement covered by my insurance company? A. Yes, if you have comprehensive coverage, windshield damage is covered by your plan. Though you will be responsible to cover any deductibles.

Q. Will I be required to file a bunch of paperwork with my insurance company?
A. No, we take care of the hassle involved with insurance claims so you don't have to. We'll do all required paperwork to bill your insurance company directly. We even recommend that you let us assist you in making the claim. This can be done in only a few minutes either when you drop your vehicle off, or pick it up after the work is completed.

Q. Will my insurance rates go up if I file an auto glass claim?
A. No, because a damaged windshield does not reflect your driving ability, and will have no bearing on your level of risk to the insurance company. Auto glass repair and replacement both fall under the comprehensive part of your insurance, not under collision.

Q. I run a tight schedule. How long will it take to replace my windshield?
A. We will work with you to make it as convenient for you as possible, including pickup and delivery of your vehicle, and rides to the mall, your work, or home. Normally we will need your vehicle in shop for about three hours in order to complete the job and allow for proper curing time. During the colder months we like to keep your vehicle in shop for as long as possible to help with a more complete curing of the sealants.

Q. How do I know if my windshield can be repaired or if it needs to be replaced?
A. If you have stone damage in front of the driver we will likely recommend replacement, or your insurance company may require it. Much depends on the amount and type of surface damage to make a suitable decision of repairability. Otherwise stone damage that is as large as a quarter or bigger, and cracks that are three inches or longer will probably need to be replaced. This is not always the case however, and we will work with you to provide the best solution for you depending on your glass insurance coverage, and the amount of money you are willing or able to spend. In any case, if it is to be repaired, the sooner it is repaired, the better, since contamination of the break developes quickly, which can compromise the appearance and strength of the repair.

Q. Do you use the same type of windshield that came in my car when it was new?
A. We offer OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) glass in our replacements. That is not "OE Quality", as some of our competitors offer. This is true OEM branded windshields, which are installed by the manufacturers! The exception may be on the rare occasions that we are unable to find the OEM glass for your vehicle. Even in those cases we will use the best quality glass we can find. There are more exceptions in foreign parts, since they use many different manufacturers at the factory level. However, even there, we often use the OE brands if available, and provided your insurer accepts the cost, or a top quality supplier for those applications. Our selections of brands are not driven by our profit margins, but by the demand for quality products that serve your needs best.

Q. Why do I have rust around my windshield and what will Jay's Auto Glass Clinic do to fix it?
A. If you see rust coming out around your windshield it is usually an indication of a prior poor quality windshield replacement. We find that most rust, as a result of improper replacement techniques, is not apparent until the windshield is removed. When we do find rust we take the time and care to remove as much of the rust as possible, treat it chemically to retard the rust, and use quality sealants to insure a strong, safe bond for your windshield. Once rust starts it's difficult to stop completely, but we do all we can to make sure you get as many years as possible out of your vehicle. Non of our competitors put more time and resources into rust repair! The only time to make these repairs is when the windshield is removed.

Q. I've heard of windshields leaking after replacement. Is this something I should be concerned about if I have Jay's Auto Glass Clinic replace my windshield?
A. First of all, YES, you should be concerned about that! However, when the job is done properly, it should be an extrememly rare occurrence! We use the best and most up-to-date techniques when replacing your windshield. If you take advantage of our services, the chances of your windshield leaking after replacement are extremely low. We guarantee your windshield against leaking or any other replacement problems for as long as you own that vehicle! Nobody in our region has a more dedicated following, nor a better track record of successful, trouble free repairs and replacements than Jay's Auto Glass Clinic. We depend on "word of mouth" referrals for a reliable source of ongoing and continued business, as opposed to many of our competitors who let the insurers or networks dictate unrealistic low prices, to get referral work handed to them. The way to secure quality repair work for your own needs, is to read up on the "steering" and "know your rights" links on the sidebars of these pages!

Q. My windshield is leaking. Can you fix the seal?
A. If we originally installed the windshield for you, we will fix the problem at no cost. We also fix leaking windshields installed by other companies - We advise you to have the original company provide proper customer service and take care of it at no cost. If they will not, or can not, we are more than willing to take care of it for you. There are a number of reasons a windshield may leak. There could be rust, bad urethane placement, too little adhesive, uneven placement of urethane, etc.. Be advised that in certain cases the windshield may need to be removed in order to fix it properly. In such a case there is always a risk that the windshield may break during removal. If this happens then you may be required to buy a new or used windshield to replace it. However, we haver the proper tools, are very careful and rarely break a windshield when removing it.

Q. What about state park stickers, antennas, remote car starters, rain sensors etc. that may be connected to my windshield?
A. We take care in removing whatever needs saving on your old windshield, and putting it back on your new one, as it was. We can even do this with most stickers. If a state park sticker, or vehicle inspection sticker becomes damaged and cannot be put on your new windshield, we preserve the remains for you so that you can use it to claim a new one.
